Dieser Raubueberfall fand heute mittag gleich bei mir um die Ecke stand... und ich war im Buero! DAMN IT!

A bank robbery spun out of control Tuesday on Miami Beach when a robbery suspect was arrested and his sidekicks, possibly hunkered down in a medical arts building across the street, phoned the bank and threatened to start shooting people if the man wasn't released.
The standoff dragged well into the afternoon, with heavily armed police and FBI agents in bulletproof vests maintaining a tense vigil. A little before 2 p.m., about 20 office workers, their arms held high in the air, filed out a side door of the medical arts building.
The robbers were not believed to be among them.
Nautilus Middle and North Beach Elementary -- some 2,000 students and staff -- remain on lockdown.
Parents this afternoon will not be allowed to pick up their students. Officials ask parents to watch television news to find out when they can.
The robbery suspects may have been trying to hit a string of banks on the same block when they were thwarted, police on the scene said.
The plan unraveled about 10:20 a.m. during a robbery in progress at the Commercial Bank of Florida building at 425 41st St., also known as Arthur Godfrey Road.
Police arrested a man, as yet unidentified.
Shortly after that, the bank received a phone call from someone threatening to start shooting people if the man in custody wasn't released.
The employee who received the call handed the phone over to police.
Almost simultaneously, people began streaming out of the Sheridan Center, the purple medical arts building across the street. They said there were two gunmen inside the building.
''Obviously, we took out as many people as possible and secured the building,'' said Bobby Hernandez, spokesman with the Miami Beach Police Department.
''We have no information that there are any hostages,'' he said.
Officers from the Miami Police Department, Miami-Dade police and agents from the FBI were dispatched to help with the situation. Police and news helicopters hovered overhead. Several blocks of 41st Street in both directions were cordoned off.
Additionally, police with guns drawn were seen storming nearby banks, including a CitiBank and an Ocean Bank.

Skywalk
Heute war die Eroeffnung des Skywalks am Grand Canyon. Ich bin von dem Bau ziemlich begeistert, aber nicht wirklich sicher, ob dadrauf gehen wuerde. Ich hatte immer eine ziemliche Hoehenangst, die ich in den letzten Jahren ganz gut im Griff hatte und mich auch an den Abhang am Grand Canyon stellen kann, aber in 1220 Metern Hoehe auf Glasscheiben herumlaufen? Ich glaube, dass werde ich mir naechten Monat erst mal ganz genau ansehen. Auch muss ich mal sehen, ob Bonnie das machen will ...
Auf den Trip mit ihr bin ich sowieso gespannt ... entweder wird das richtig klasse ... oder wir schubsen uns gegenseitig in den Grand Canyon ..;o)

Wenn ich im Auto unterwegs bin, hoere ich immer "The Coast" im Radio ... "the best music from the 80's, 90's and today. Naja ... soviel von "today" ist nicht dabei ... es sind meistens Sachen aus den 80's ... aber das passt ganz gut. Besonders nett finde ich, dass man dort kaum von "gutgelaunten" Moderatoren belaestigt wird (abgesehen von der Morning show ...und Delilah ... aber die waere ein eigenen Eintrag wert) ... denn der Sender verspricht jede Stunde mindestens 50 Minuten Musik ... ohne Unterbrechung. Die uebrigen 10 Minuten werden mit Werbung und Nachrichten bzw. Verkehrsmeldungen gefuellt. Heute habe ich da eine interessante Werbung gehoert, wie sie vermutlich nur in South Florida vorkommt. Aufgrund der Musikauswahl spricht der Sender natuerlich ein Publikum ueber 30 an ... und entsprechend ist die Werbung dort. Banken, Autohaendler, Aerzte und Schoenheitskliniken, die unterschiedliche Dienstleistungen anbieten. Es ist Fruehling ... und z.Zt. wird sehr agressiv fuer Laser Hair Treatments geworben ... da geht es natuerlich um die permanente Befreiung von Koerperbehaarung. Heute wurde auch so ein "Paket" angeboten ... und als Extra wurde dort bei einer schnellen Reservierung noch ein Treatment with 5 Units of Botox angeboten ;o)

Es gab ueber das Wochenende wirklich nichts berichtenswertes. Es war mein freies Wochenende ...also habe ich viel geschlafen, gegammelt, gelesen ... ein wenig in der Sonne gesessen ..usw. Heute nachmittag bin ich am Pool in der Sonne eingenickt ... und habe mir einen kleinen Sonnenbrand auf der Schulter eingefangen ... aber mit eine Lotion aus Aleo Vera, Tee-Extrakt und Lidocaine ist sowas schnell im Griff ... das gehoert hier einfach in die Hausapotheke .. ;o)
